Let us continue our story. In part one of this series, we learned the horrors of this catastrophe in Meritah’s Great Lakes region, also known as the interlacustrine region, from 1994 until present (2015). We now know that this catastrophe cannot be summarized simply as an ethnic conflict between African tribes as we tend to hear. As shown in part two of this series, Hutu and Tutsi, which continue to be the target of blame for the conflict, carried different meanings prior to European invasion.
